Outwork Everyone to win in 2025

This episode of the Heartland Multifamily Show dives into a question many of you have been asking: will 2025 be easier or harder than 2024? For most people, the answer is obvious—harder. Economic uncertainty, increased competition, and challenges in every industry are expected to escalate. But here’s the twist: if you’re not like most people, 2025 could be easier. Success isn’t about the circumstances; it’s about your mindset, work ethic, and willingness to outwork everyone around you.

To illustrate this, Trot and I discuss a recent business event I attended. I was part of a team of 12 accomplished individuals. We had the option to meet and plan our strategies either the evening before or early the next morning. Everyone agreed to meet at 7:30 am to get a head start before the conference officially began. But guess what? Out of 12 people, only 2 were ready on time. By 7:40, six people had trickled in. By 8:30, the formal start of the event, 10 people were finally present, and two were late even then.

What this taught me is simple: most people you’re competing with won’t do the hard work. They won’t show up early, they won’t push themselves, and they won’t commit to excellence. That’s why it’s easier for people like me—those willing to do the hard work—to succeed. The bar is often set lower than you think. If you’re an above-average person willing to put in the effort, you already have a massive advantage.

The truth is, we all want nice things. But few people are willing to work hard enough to earn them. 2025 will be challenging for those who don’t commit to putting in the effort. But for those who embrace the grind and stay disciplined, it will be a year of opportunity and success. You have to become the person who works harder than everyone else, someone who doesn’t just dream about winning but does what it takes to win.

In this episode, I share the mindset and strategies that can make 2025 a breakthrough year for you. It all boils down to this: when the going gets tough, the tough get going. If you commit to doing the work, you can outlast and outperform your competition. Click here to watch the episode to learn how to take control of your future and make 2025 a year of winning.

Are You Asking the Right Questions Before You Invest?

Today on the Heartland Multifamily show, I’m going to answer a question I often hear people say: “I have this amount of money—what investment should I get into?” But the better question is: Do I have the time, effort, and energy to get the results I want? Before choosing where to invest, you need to know if you’re ready to fully commit.

Buying Below Value | The Pressures and Opportunities Behind Discounted Deals

Why would someone sell at a discount? In previous episodes of the Heartland Multifamily Show, I’ve talked about the importance of being skeptical if someone offers you a property at a discount. But there are many good reasons why a property owner is willing to leave money on the table in favor of a quick sale. The top four reasons are illness/death, being on the verge of repossession, not having the time or energy to manage the property, and seeing another opportunity that makes up for the immediate loss. Watch this episode of the Heartland Multifamily Show to learn more.

Priorities Decide Profits | How Landlords Create Momentum Out of Chaos

Affordable housing. We all like to complain about how expensive things are, but at the Heartland Multifamily Show, I’m willing to tell you the hard truth. I’m not some activist by any means; my views come from decades of experience buying, selling, and managing millions of dollars of properties in America’s Heartland. And the hard truth is that affordable homes aren’t a question of money, it’s a question of qualifications. If you’re a landlord like me or a bank, you check someone’s credit score before you work with them. And many people don’t qualify for favorable treatment. Watch this episode to hear me break down in detail why there’s no magic bullet for affordable housing.
